Teen Facial : Basic care

Give Me Ten Minutes and I’ll Tell You the Basics of Teen Facial Care

Teen facial care is extremely important. Almost anyone in their puberty will experience some semblance of skin breakout. Even children who are only in 10 years old may begin to experience the first signs of acne problems, and this could lead to permanent scarring when left untreated.

Why teen facial care is important

During puberty, a lot of changes happen to the human body. If you have a child in their teens, you’ll notice a lot of transformations with them not only physically, but psychologically as well. The way they “grow” determines how well they fit into society.

As a result, even the slightest blemish on the face can make your teen depressed. They’re bound to feel odd and alone with the strange thing that’s growing on their nose or forehead. Some people even suffer from acne problems into their adulthood because these were left untreated when they were younger.

Make your teen understand what’s going on

As a parent, you need to make your teen understand that s/he isn’t alone with the problem. It hits almost all teens in the USA and it should be nothing to be ashamed of because it can be treated easily. Make them understand what’s causing the problem. Hormonal changes, poor diets, poor hygiene, poor sleeping habits and stress cause pimples not only for teens but adults as well.

Get your teen into the habit

Acne prone skin needs to be cleansed regularly. The main cause of acne is pore clogging, which happens when the skin overproduces oil, and when the individual is exposed to a lot of pollution. Hot weather is one of the primary causes of acne because it makes the skin produce more oil and sweat. Sweat, when left on the skin to dry, infects and irritates already pre-existing pimples.

If your teen eats a lot of greasy junk food, s/he is bound to have more oil/fat content in his/her body. Eating fries, burger, and pizza too much can cause your skin to break out. On the other hand poor sleeping habits can drastically affect your teen’s hormones. Hormonal imbalance is also one of the primary causes of acne.

Once you’ve made your teen understand the causes of his/her skin problem, you need to help him/her get into a healthier lifestyle. This means better hygiene, diet, and sleep. Acne prone skin needs to be cleansed twice daily. You can purchase facial cleansers over-the-counter that are compatible to your teen’s skin type (normal, oily, dry, or combination). There are also topical solutions available for faster treatment of pimples.

Make your teen eat healthier by serving a lot of fruits, yoghurt, and vegetables at home. Explain that these are antioxidants which are very good for the skin.

Your teen should get into the habit of sleeping 7 to 9 hours a night. Enough sleep won’t only improve their complexion it will also help them concentrate better in school.

When is it okay to consult the dermatologist?

When the acne problem persists even after several weeks of treatment, you should see your dermatologist. Your teen might be dealing with severe acne issues, and these will need to be dealt with as soon as possible. Procedural teen facial treatments are available for teens with serious skin issues.
